Rosacea treatment The Hague
Rosacea treatment in The Hague
Do you suffer from persistent redness, sensitive skin, or visible blood vessels? This could be consistent with rosacea, a chronic skin condition in which the skin reacts more quickly to internal and external stimuli.
As a skin therapist at my practice, Medicadermis, I look not only at what is visible, but primarily at the underlying processes within the skin. Based on this, I develop a treatment plan that suits your skin type and the extent to which the skin has become unbalanced.
What happens in the skin with rosacea?
The skin is not a static organ, but a dynamic system in which barrier function, immune activity, and blood flow must constantly remain in balance. As a skin therapist, I see in my practice how this balance is disrupted in rosacea.
Scientific research shows an overactive innate immune response, increased vascular reactivity, and a weakened skin barrier. As a result, the skin reacts more sensitively to stimuli such as temperature changes, UV radiation, stress, and certain skincare products.
What appears on the surface as redness or bumps is in fact the result of underlying inflammatory processes in the skin.
Different stages of rosacea
Rosacea presents in various forms and can develop over time. In an early stage, temporary redness (flushes) is often observed, while later, more persistent redness with visible blood vessels (telangiectasias) may develop.
In addition, some people develop inflammations such as bumps and pimples, which can resemble acne. In other cases, the eyes may also become involved (ocular rosacea) or there may be skin thickening.
Not every form occurs in everyone, and the course varies greatly from person to person.
Rosacea and dry eyes
It is less well known that rosacea can affect not only the skin, but also the eyelids and eyes. Symptoms such as dry eyes, burning, a gritty feeling, eyelid margin inflammation (blepharitis), and meibomian gland dysfunction occur regularly in people with rosacea. Why less is sometimes more
What many people don't know is that skin with rosacea often benefits from rest and targeted stimuli, rather than intensive or excessive skincare. In practice, I regularly see that simplifying a routine can already make a noticeable difference in skin sensitivity.
A simple but effective tip is to take temperature differences into account. Transitions from cold to warm environments, or taking a hot shower, can strongly activate the blood vessels in the skin and thus worsen redness.
Treatment of rosacea at Medicadermis
In the treatment of rosacea, I focus on restoring the balance of the skin. Depending on your skin, this may consist of a combination of light and laser therapy, skin-improving treatments, and targeted home care.
In particular, treatments such as IPL and laser can help reduce redness and visible blood vessels, while supportive skincare focuses on strengthening the skin barrier and reducing sensitivity to inflammation.
