SHINE

SHINE

Shine starts at the source

Shine stands for radiant, healthy skin. Instead of an ongoing daily battle against oily, acne-prone skin or other inflammations, we opt for a medical approach that focuses on skin therapeutic treatments. These are specifically designed to tackle various inflammatory skin conditions at their source, with a focus on hair follicles, sebaceous and sweat glands. Our program offers high-quality care, specifically aimed at relieving and improving these skin problems. So that you too can enjoy healthier, more beautiful skin. Make sure you seek help in time to get rid of your acne properly and quickly. The sooner you start effective therapy, the better. This way you ultimately prevent scar treatments.

Products: Skin care matters
The skin therapist has carefully selected products for the Shine Collection whose ingredients are proven to keep the skin clear and pure. The products work against inflammation caused by sebum, yeasts, bacteria and sweat. They strengthen the skin barrier and improve the natural state of the skin through the use of pre- and probiotic skin care (prebiotics serve as food for probiotics, the living micro-organisms in the skin micro-biome), visibly reducing inflammation. This skin care line effectively supports our treatments, but is also very effective on its own. It also includes the collection of non-greasy sun protection products to protect the skin from harmful UV rays and prevent hyperpigmentation.
Sebaceous gland-related skin conditions
Various forms of acne fall within the category of sebaceous gland-related skin conditions. Sebum may play a role in rosacea, but it is not the primary cause of the inflammation. However, the redness and inflammation associated with rosacea can be effectively treated with light and laser therapy. At Medicadermis, these sebaceous gland-related skin conditions are grouped under the heading Acne Therapy. The treatment focuses on reducing inflammation to prevent new inflammation. The chance of scar formation is minimized. We use scar therapy for scars that are the result of acne. This therapy is specifically aimed at treating box scars, rolling scars, or ice pick scars. Advice is also given on managing sebaceous gland-related skin conditions, which are sometimes chronic in nature.

This therapy offers a multifaceted approach to treating and managing different forms of acne. Reducing inflammation - often caused by bacteria, the hormonal overproduction of sebum and thickening of the skin are central to this. Hair follicle and sweat gland related skin disorders
Skin conditions related to hair follicles and sweat glands often have similar causes and symptoms, partly due to their physical proximity and function in the skin. Some important similarities are:
  • Clogging : Hair follicles and sweat glands can both become clogged and inflamed.
  • Bacterial and fungal infections : Due to their moist and warm environment, hair follicles and sweat glands are prone to infection. Which increases the risk of conditions such as folliculitis and abscesses. Folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicles. There are several types of folliculitis, including:
    • Bacterial folliculitis : Usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
    • Pseudofolliculitis barbae : This occurs when shaved hairs curl back into the skin and cause inflammation. It is common in men with curly hair who shave their faces.
    • Fungal folliculitis : Caused by fungi and can occur as a complication of antibiotics, which disrupt the natural balance of skin flora.
    • Hot tub folliculitis : Caused by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is often found in poorly maintained hot tubs and swimming pools.
  • Hormonal influences : the influence of hormones on hair follicle and sweat gland activity can result in acne and certain forms of hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is abnormal sweating, often more than is necessary for the regulation of body temperature.
  • Inflammation : Common in both and characterized by redness, swelling, pain and pus formation.
  • Scars : Chronic inflammation can cause scars.

Skin therapeutic treatments:

  • Preventive treatment is applied for inflammation of hair follicles, such as pseudofolliculitis barbae or a pilonidal cyst (due to ingrown hair), but also for hydradenitis suppurativa (sweat gland inflammation where there is a lot of skin-to-skin contact).
  • In conditions where the hair is the source of inflammation, the hair is permanently removed with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). This prevents the formation of new inflammations.
  • If the inflammation has caused the scars, scar therapy can significantly improve the appearance of the skin. The use of light and laser for scar therapy can also have a preventive effect against inflammation.
Broad, but also specialized knowledge
Our Shine program focuses specifically on skin conditions in which inflamed sebaceous glands, hair follicles and sweat glands play an important role. This includes a wide range of conditions such as acne, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, folliculitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, pilonidal cyst, keratosis pilaris, pseudofolliculitis barbae, and more. We have a lot of knowledge about the different skin conditions and can therefore put together personalized treatments that are tailored to the needs of each client.

If the skin therapeutic treatments alone are not sufficient for effective treatment of your skin, an interdisciplinary approach is used, in which the skin therapist guides you and collaborates with other healthcare providers to optimally treat your skin.
