SHINE

Shine starts at the source

Shine stands for radiant, healthy skin. Instead of a continuous daily battle against oily, acne-prone skin or other inflammations, we opt for a medical approach centered on skin therapeutic treatments. These are specifically designed to address various inflammatory skin conditions at the source, with a focus on hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands. Our program offers high-quality care, specifically aimed at relieving and improving these skin problems. So that you, too, can enjoy healthier, more beautiful skin. Make sure you seek help in time to get rid of your acne effectively and quickly. The sooner you start an effective therapy, the better. This way, you ultimately prevent scar treatments.

Products: skincare matters
The skin therapist has carefully selected products for the Shine Collection whose ingredients have been proven to keep the skin clear and pure. The products combat inflammation caused by sebum, yeasts, bacteria, and sweat. They strengthen the skin barrier and improve the natural state of the skin through the use of prebiotic and probiotic skincare (prebiotics serve as food for probiotics, the living microorganisms in the skin microbiome), resulting in a visible reduction of inflammation. This skincare line effectively supports our treatments but is also highly effective on its own. It also includes the collection of non-greasy sun protection products to protect the skin against harmful UV rays and to prevent hyperpigmentation.
Sebaceous gland-related skin conditions
Various forms of acne fall within the category of sebaceous gland-related skin conditions. While sebum can play a role in rosacea, it is not the primary cause of the inflammation. However, the redness and inflammation associated with rosacea can be effectively treated with light and laser therapy. At Medikadermis, these sebaceous gland-related skin conditions are grouped under the heading Acne Therapy. The treatment focuses on reducing inflammation to prevent new inflammation. The risk of scarring is minimized. For scars resulting from acne, we apply scar therapy. This therapy is specifically aimed at treating box scars, rolling scars, or icepick scars. Advice is also provided on managing sebaceous gland-related skin conditions, which are sometimes chronic in nature.

Acne therapy

This therapy offers a multifaceted approach to treating and managing various forms of acne. Reducing inflammation—often caused by bacteria, hormonal overproduction of sebum, and skin thickening—is central to this. Depending on your skin's needs, the following steps are part of Acne Therapy at Medicadermis to varying degrees:

  • Deep cleaning, the manual removal of impurities.
  • Intense Pulsed Light

  • Advice and instructions for caring for and improving the skin.

The therapy may include various treatments, such as massage, exercises, silicone patches, and laser therapy.Depending on the type and size of the scar, the following steps are, to a greater or lesser extent, part of scar therapy at Medikadermis:
  • Medical peel, level III
  • Medical microneedling

Hair follicle and sweat gland-related skin conditions
Skin conditions related to hair follicles and sweat glands often have similar causes and symptoms, partly due to their physical proximity and function in the skin. Some important similarities are:
  • Blockage: Both hair follicles and sweat glands can become clogged and inflamed.
  • Bacterial and fungal infections: Due to their moist and warm environment, hair follicles and sweat glands are susceptible to infection, which increases the risk of conditions such as folliculitis and abscesses. Folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicles. There are different types of folliculitis, including:
    • Bacterial folliculitis: Usually caused by the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium.
    • Pseudofolliculitis barbae: This occurs when shaved hairs curl back into the skin and cause inflammation. It is common among men with curly hair who shave their faces.
    • Fungal folliculitis: Caused by fungi and can occur as a complication of antibiotics, which disrupt the natural balance of the skin flora.
    • Hot tub folliculitis: Caused by the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is often found in poorly maintained hot tubs and swimming pools.
  • Hormonal influences: The influence of hormones on hair follicles and sweat gland activity can result in acne and certain forms of hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is abnormal sweating, often more than is necessary for the regulation of body temperature.
  • Inflammation: Common in both and characterized by redness, swelling, pain, and pus formation.
  • Scars: Chronic inflammation can cause scarring.

Skin therapy treatments:

  • Preventive treatment is applied for inflammation of hair follicles, such as in pseudofolliculitis barbae or a pilonidal cyst (caused by ingrown hair), but also in hidradenitis suppurativa (inflammation of the sweat glands involving significant skin-to-skin contact).
  • In conditions where the hair is the source of inflammation, the hairs are permanently removed using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). This prevents the formation of new inflammation.
  • If inflammation has caused the scars, scar therapy can significantly improve the appearance of the skin. The use of light and laser for scar therapy can also act preventively against inflammation.
