The effect of photoacoustic laser on tattoo pigment: safe and secure

We use a photoacoustic NdYAG laser that emits specific light energy in short pulses. This energy is absorbed by the ink particles of the tattoo, causing them to break down into small fragments that are then naturally eliminated by your body via the lymphatic system. This makes it possible to gradually fade unwanted tattoos over multiple treatment sessions. Usually, a significant reduction is visible after just two to three sessions, but it can sometimes take a little longer depending on the tattoo.

Provided it is performed with the correct medically certified equipment and by a trained professional, NdYAG laser treatment is a safe, non-invasive choice that requires no recovery time. This makes it attractive to people seeking an effective treatment without side effects or downtime. The technology has been a proven treatment among medical specialists for decades. There is no evidence of an increased risk of oncological consequences for the skin.

The treatment: frequency, procedure and recovery

  • Preparation: We begin with a thorough cleansing of the skin area to be treated to remove oils.
  • The Treatment: During the session, the laser is moved precisely over the tattoo. You may feel a rapid series of light 'taps', which is normal. The treatment usually does not take long, depending on the size and intensity of the tattoo.
  • After the Treatment: Immediately after the session, the treated area may be red and slightly swollen, and small scabs may form later. We will apply cooling to reduce discomfort, and you will receive specific aftercare instructions to promote recovery.

Pre- and Post-care

  • Before you come: Avoid sun exposure on the area to be treated to increase the effectiveness of the treatment and reduce the risk of side effects.
  • After the treatment: It is important to keep the treated area clean and protected from the sun. Avoid applying makeup to the area until it has fully healed.

Contraindications

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for this treatment. Contraindications include, but are not limited to:

  • Active skin infections or inflammations in the area to be treated.
  • Recent tanning or use of self-tanners.
  • Certain medical conditions or medication that increase skin sensitivity.

Prior to the treatment, we will conduct a thorough evaluation of your skin and medical history to ensure that this treatment is safe and effective for you. Our goal is to help you achieve the desired results with the utmost care and attention to your safety and comfort.

Prescribing anesthetic cream is reserved for the general practitioner.

For optimal comfort during the treatment, your GP can prescribe lidocaine cream. You can submit a request for this to your GP and then pick it up at your pharmacy. It is important that you apply this cream at home under an occlusive dressing, as the cream needs time to take effect. These can be found, for example, under the brand Leukoflex or 3M as adhesive dressings and are also available at the pharmacy. Ideally, you should apply the cream one hour before the treatment so that the full numbing effect is achieved.

Although the treatment itself is brief and can in principle be performed without anesthesia, the use of lidocaine cream offers an extra layer of comfort, especially for sensitive areas. By taking this preparatory step, you help minimize any potential discomfort during the procedure.

Please remember that the exact instructions for applying the cream and the duration of absorption depend on your GP's advice and the specific properties of the cream. Should you have any further questions regarding how to apply the cream correctly or the treatment itself, please feel free to contact us in advance. We are here to answer your questions and ensure that the treatment is as pleasant as possible.

The reality of the beauty industry

The beauty industry is now flooded with all kinds of laser, IPL, and other types of devices, many of which do not meet the quality requirements according to our Western medical standards. Furthermore, there is often no scientific evidence for these treatments.Variation in equipment, a lack of basic dermatological knowledge, as well as insufficient training and experience of the practitioner, can lead to unsatisfactory results. It can even result in an increased risk of side effects or skin damage for the patient.

Feel beautiful and confident through the Quality of Medicarems.

We aim for the highest quality when it comes to K and work with, among others, the M22 Stellar from Lumenis. This system is used worldwide due to its superior performance in hospitals and clinics by dermatologists. The M22 stands for reliable treatment for a wide range of skin conditions, including pigmentation spots. And last but not least: our equipment undergoes frequent technical maintenance. Because just as you cannot write sharply with a blunt pencil, an uncalibrated laser or a worn-out IPL tube is ineffective.

Our skin therapist has years of experience, but continuously enriches her knowledge and skills through training and education. Our choice of equipment and expert care enable us to offer you safe, proven effective, and personalized treatments. Your (skin) needs are guaranteed to be in good hands at medicademis.
