Lira Clinical Pro Brite-Plus Serum

Lira Clinical PRO Brite-Plus Serum is an intensive serum for pigmentation spots, uneven skin tone, and redness. The formula combines tranexamic acid with a stabilized form of vitamin C and ferulic acid to make the skin visibly more even and brighter.

Tranexamic acid, in particular, makes this serum interesting for stubborn pigmentation. The ingredient is being researched and used for conditions including melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. In combination with daily sun protection, Brite-Plus can be used within a targeted pigment routine.

Lira Clinical also recommends the serum to condition the skin prior to professional resurfacing treatments. The appropriate preparation depends on your skin, the type of pigment, and the planned treatment.

DETAILS

What is Lira Clinical PRO Brite-Plus Serum?

PRO Brite-Plus Serum is a leave-on serum from the professional PRO line by Lira Clinical. The formula is primarily aimed at reducing uneven skin tone and contains various ingredients used in the treatment and care of hyperpigmentation.

The most important difference compared to many classic pigment serums is the presence of tranexamic acid. This ingredient has received increasing attention within dermatology in recent years due to its potential effect on pigment disorders, particularly melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Additionally, the formula contains ascorbyl glucoside, a stable vitamin C derivative, ferulic acid, glycerin, panthenol, and hyaluronic acid.

For which skin type is Brite-Plus Serum suitable?

  • Skin with pigment spots or an uneven complexion
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Skin prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
  • Skin with residual pigment after inflammation or acne
  • Skin where pigment management is part of a professional treatment
  • According to Lira Clinical: all skin types and skin conditions

My advice as a skin therapist: When treating pigment spots, I look not only at the pigment itself but also at the cause. Sun exposure, hormonal factors, inflammation, and skin damage can all influence pigment production. Therefore, a pigment serum works best as part of a complete routine in which daily sun protection is a regular feature.

OPERATION

How does Lira PRO Brite-Plus Serum work for pigment spots?

Pigment is formed when melanocytes produce melanin and this pigment is passed on to surrounding skin cells via melanosomes. This is a normal protective mechanism of the skin, but under the influence of, for example, UV radiation, hormones, or inflammation, too much pigment can develop locally.

Therefore, in the treatment of hyperpigmentation, it is often more effective to influence various processes surrounding pigment formation simultaneously than to merely superficially exfoliate existing discoloration.

Tranexamic acid for hyperpigmentation

Tranexamic acid, internationally referred to as tranexamic acid or TXA, was originally developed as a medicine to reduce bleeding. It was later discovered that it can also affect biological processes involved in melanin formation.

Topical tranexamic acid has been primarily studied for melasma. Clinical studies show that topically applied tranexamic acid can reduce pigmentation. In addition, there is research into its use for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, for example after acne.

The results of scientific studies cannot be directly translated to every cosmetic serum. Specific concentrations and formulations are used in studies. Lira Clinical does not state the percentage of tranexamic acid in Brite-Plus, therefore I cannot make a statement regarding an exact concentration or a guaranteed treatment result.

Vitamin C: ascorbyl glucoside

Brite-Plus contains Ascorbyl Glucoside, a stabilized vitamin C derivative. In the skin, ascorbyl glucoside can be enzymatically converted into ascorbic acid.

Vitamin C has antioxidant properties and plays a role in processes related to pigment formation and collagen synthesis. Therefore, vitamin C is widely used in skincare for uneven skin tone and sun-damaged skin.

However, the effect of a vitamin C product is partly determined by the form used, the concentration, the formulation, and the stability. Therefore, an ingredient on the INCI list does not automatically indicate the strength of the final product.

Ferulic acid as an antioxidant

Ferulic acid is a plant-based phenolic antioxidant. It can help neutralize free radicals that are formed by, among other things, exposure to UV radiation.

Ferulic acid is frequently combined with vitamin C and vitamin E in skincare. Research into such antioxidant combinations shows that ferulic acid can support the stability and antioxidant activity of vitamin C.

However, an antioxidant serum is not a substitute for sunscreen. For pigment spots, daily protection against UV radiation remains essential.

Hydration and support of the skin barrier

The formula also contains glycerin, panthenol, and sodium hyaluronate. These ingredients are not primarily intended to reduce pigment, but support the moisture level and comfort of the skin.

This can be relevant within an active skincare routine, especially when peels, retinoids, or other skin-improving treatments are used in addition.

USAGE

How do you use Lira Clinical PRO Brite-Plus Serum?

  1. Cleanse your face with a cleanser that suits your skin.
  2. Apply one to two pumps of PRO Brite-Plus Serum.
  3. Gently press or spread the serum over the face.
  4. Then apply a suitable cream.
  5. Always use broad-spectrum sun protection during the day.

Use for pigment spots

Consistent use is important for hyperpigmentation. Pigment formation is a continuous biological process, and existing discoloration typically does not disappear within a few days.

In addition, use sun protection daily. New exposure to UV radiation can stimulate melanin production again, thereby counteracting the results of a pigment routine.

For a peel, IPL or laser treatment

Lira Clinical positions PRO Brite-Plus Serum as a product to condition the skin prior to resurfacing treatments.

Whether and for how long you should use a pigment serum before a professional treatment depends on, among other things, your skin type, pigment sensitivity, and the type of treatment. Therefore, follow the personal treatment advice you have received.

Do not automatically use active products just before or immediately after a peel, laser, or IPL treatment.Your normal skincare routine may be temporarily adjusted around a professional treatment.

Can Brite-Plus be used together with PRO Lite Serum?

Yes. According to Lira Clinical, PRO Brite-Plus Serum and PRO Lite Serum can be used in combination or alternately.

The products do not have the same formula. Brite-Plus is based on ingredients including tranexamic acid, ascorbyl glucoside, and ferulic acid. PRO Lite contains, among other ingredients, alpha-arbutin, kojic acid, azelaic acid, and hexylresorcinol. Which combination is suitable depends on the skin and the goal of the treatment.

INGREDIENTS

Why are these ingredients in PRO Brite-Plus Serum?

Tranexamic acid

Tranexamic acid is one of the key active ingredients in Brite-Plus. Topical tranexamic acid is being investigated in the dermatological literature for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, particularly melasma.

Clinical data are also available for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The ingredient influences signaling pathways involved in the stimulation of melanocytes and can therefore contribute to a decrease in excessive pigment formation.

Ascorbyl glucoside

Ascorbyl glucoside is a stabilized form of vitamin C in which ascorbic acid is linked to glucose. After absorption, it can be converted into vitamin C in the skin.

Vitamin C functions as an antioxidant and can influence processes involved in melanin formation. In addition, vitamin C plays a role as a cofactor in the formation of collagen.

Ferulic acid

Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that occurs naturally in various plants. It is used in cosmetic formulas, among other things, to help limit oxidative stress.

Ferulic acid is best known for its combination with other antioxidants, including vitamin C and vitamin E.

Hyaluronic acid

Sodium Hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid and acts as a humectant. It binds water, thereby helping to support the moisture content of the superficial skin.

Panthenol

Panthenol is provitamin B5. It is used in skincare for its hydrating and skin-soothing properties and can contribute to supporting a comfortable skin barrier.

Vitamin E

The formula contains vitamin E as Tocopherol. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant and helps protect lipids in the skin and in the cosmetic formulation against oxidation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions about Lira Clinical PRO Brite-Plus Serum

What do you use Lira PRO Brite-Plus Serum for?

PRO Brite-Plus Serum is primarily intended for uneven skin tone and unwanted pigmentation. The formula contains, among other ingredients, tranexamic acid, ascorbyl glucoside, and ferulic acid.

Does tranexamic acid help with pigment spots?

Topical tranexamic acid has been investigated in multiple clinical trials for hyperpigmentation. Most data are available for melasma. Additionally, there is research into post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The products studied contain specific concentrations of tranexamic acid. Because Lira Clinical does not state a percentage for Brite-Plus, results from these studies cannot be directly translated to this serum.

Can I use Brite-Plus for melasma?

Tranexamic acid is an interesting ingredient for melasma and is being researched and used for this purpose within dermatology. However, melasma is a complex pigment disorder in which UV radiation, visible light, and hormonal factors, among others, can play a role.

A serum alone is therefore usually not sufficient. Daily sun protection and a well-tuned pigment routine are important to keep pigmentation under control as well as possible.

Is Brite-Plus suitable for pigmentation spots after acne?

That is possible. Dark discolorations that remain after an inflamed pimple are called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Tranexamic acid has also been studied for this.

In the case of active acne, the acne itself must also be treated. After all, if new inflammations keep developing, new pigment spots can also keep appearing.

Can Brite-Plus reduce redness?

Lira Clinical also positions Brite-Plus for skin with redness. Furthermore, tranexamic acid is being investigated for various conditions in which pigment and vascular or inflammatory processes occur together.

However, redness can have many different causes, including rosacea, broken capillaries, irritation, and a damaged skin barrier. Therefore, the serum is not a general treatment for every form of redness.

Can I use Brite-Plus before a peel or laser treatment?

Lira Clinical recommends Brite-Plus as part of skin conditioning prior to resurfacing treatments. Especially for skin prone to pigmentation, targeted preparation can be part of the treatment plan.

Which products you use before a peel, IPL, or laser treatment, and when you stop using them, must be tailored to the specific treatment and your skin type.

Do I need to use SPF with Brite-Plus?

Yes. Daily sun protection is one of the most important parts of any routine against hyperpigmentation. UV radiation stimulates melanin production and can darken existing pigment spots.

A vitamin C or antioxidant serum does not replace sunscreen.

What is the difference between Lira PRO Brite-Plus and PRO Lite Serum?

Both serums are aimed at pigment management, but have a different composition. Brite-Plus contains, among other things, tranexamic acid, ascorbyl glucoside, and ferulic acid.

PRO Lite contains, among other things, alpha-arbutin, kojic acid, azelaic acid, hexylresorcinol, and another form of vitamin C. According to Lira Clinical, the two products can be used in combination or alternately.

Does Brite-Plus contain retinol?

No. Retinol is not listed in the ingredients of Lira Clinical PRO Brite-Plus Serum.

Does Brite-Plus contain hydroquinone?

No. Hydroquinone is not listed in the ingredients. The main pigment-targeting ingredient of Brite-Plus is tranexamic acid.
