PRO Lite Serum is a leave-on serum from the Lira Clinical PRO line, developed for the care of skin with hyperpigmentation and an uneven complexion.

The formula does not contain a single pigment-targeting ingredient, but a combination of, among others, arbutin, hexylresorcinol, kojic acid, and azelaic acid. Additionally, the serum contains sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a stabilized form of vitamin C, and various botanical extracts.

My advice as a skin therapist: Pigment spots do not all have the same cause. Sunlight, hormones, and inflammation can each play a different role. That is why, for stubborn pigmentation, I prefer to look at the complete skin routine rather than a single pigment product.

How does Lira PRO Lite Serum work for pigment spots?

Melanin is produced by melanocytes and subsequently transferred to surrounding skin cells via melanosomes. This is a normal protective mechanism of the skin. When this process is activated more strongly locally, dark pigment spots can develop.

PRO Lite combines various ingredients that are used from different perspectives within pigment-targeted skincare.

Arbutin

Arbutin is a derivative of hydroquinone and can influence the activity of tyrosinase. Tyrosinase is an important enzyme in the formation of melanin.

Arbutin is therefore widely used in cosmetic products to treat uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation. Clinical research on arbutin is available, but many studies investigate combinations with other pigment-targeting ingredients. The effect of this specific Lira formula therefore cannot be directly derived from those studies.

Kojic acid

Kojic acid is also an ingredient that can inhibit tyrosinase. It has long been researched and used for various forms of hyperpigmentation, including melasma.

It can cause irritation in some skin types. The skin's reaction therefore remains important when determining the frequency of use.

Azelaic acid

Hexylresorcinol

Therefore, I describe it as a supportive pigment-targeting ingredient and not as a replacement for a medication such as hydroquinone.

Vitamin C

PRO Lite contains Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a water-soluble and stabilized vitamin C derivative.

Vitamin C has antioxidant properties and can influence processes involved in pigment formation. However, the ultimate effect of a vitamin C product also depends on the form, concentration, and overall formulation used.

Why does SPF remain so important?

UV radiation stimulates the production of melanin. As a result, existing hyperpigmentation can darken and new pigment can form.

A pigment serum cannot replace or block the effect of sun exposure. Therefore, daily sun protection is always part of the treatment or care of pigment spots.

How do you use Lira Clinical PRO Lite Serum?

1. Cleanse the skin with a cleanser that suits your skin type.
2. Apply one to two pumps of PRO Lite Serum.
3. Gently massage or spread the serum over the skin.
4. Then apply a suitable moisturizing cream.
5. Always use good sun protection during the day.

Can PRO Lite be used every day?

Lira Clinical recommends PRO Lite as a daily leave-on serum. How often it is best to use the product also depends on the other active products in your routine and the sensitivity of your skin.

When you combine multiple pigment products, retinoids, or exfoliating acids, the overall routine can become more intense. Therefore, build up active skincare gradually if your skin reacts quickly.

PRO Lite and professional skin treatments

The PRO line from Lira Clinical is also used within skin-improving treatment programs. Pigment management before and between professional treatments can be particularly relevant for skin prone to unwanted pigmentation.

Can PRO Lite be used together with PRO Brite-Plus Serum?

Yes. Lira Clinical indicates that PRO Lite and PRO Brite-Plus can be used alternately.

The composition differs significantly. PRO Lite contains, among others, arbutin, kojic acid, azelaic acid, and hexylresorcinol. PRO Brite-Plus, on the other hand, is formulated around, among others, tranexamic acid, ascorbyl glucoside, and ferulic acid.
